Directions to Southfield Road

Southfield Road is ³/₄ of a mile down Cowley Road, approximately opposite the bingo hall and the City Arms pub (formerly the Philosopher & Firkin).

The directions given below generally assume that people will be travelling from the direction of the town centre. For those travelling from elsewhere, it is recommended that you travel along Cowley Road (which later becomes Oxford Road and then Garsington Road as it approaches the ring road) keeping an eye out for the bingo hall and pub.

By foot or bike:
From the town centre, head east down the High Street and over Magdalen Bridge. At the Magdalen Roundabout, take the second clockwise exit, which is Cowley Road. Carry on down here for approximately three-quarters of a mile. You will pass a 24-hour Tesco's supermarket on your left, then an open grassy area with benches and a small children's playground also on your left, then a church on your right. Once you reach the church, the second road on your left (the one roughly opposite the City Arms pub) is Southfield Road.

By car:
Follow the directions given above from the Magdalen Roundabout. Some parking spaces are usually available along Southfield Road, and some distance down the road is a section of parkland with a long fence running alongside it and no houses, where there is usually space to park.
If there is no space to park on Southfield Road, it is recommended that you use the pay-and-display car park behind the Cowley Road 24-hour Tesco's and make the five minute walk from there.

By bus:
The #1 and #5 buses to Blackbird Leys travel from the Queen Street and High Street stops down Cowley Road. Ask for the stop opposite the bingo hall, which should cost about one pound. Keep an eye out for the landmarks mentioned above - just after the City Arms pub on your right there is a large bingo hall, also on your right, and the bus stop you want is the one opposite this.
As you get off the bus, turn left and head back towards the town centre. Southfield Road is the first road on your right.
