Below are given slightly more detailed descriptions of some of Outpost's adventurers, together with the Ranks they hold in various of the Outpost Adventuring Guilds and the dates their careers began.
An adventurer who is a member of two or more Guilds is listed under the Guild in which they hold the highest Rank, which is usually (although not always) the one which they joined first and to which they owe the most loyalty.

Knight (Rank 6)
First adventure: summer 899 Played by: Frances
Has bells on her wrists which she never takes off.
Journeyman, Neophyte of the Lorewarden's Guild (Ranks 4/2)
Lorewarden of The Church of The One God, Aligned to the Fellowship of the Heavenly Road
Mutant half-newt
First adventure: 27th October 900 (?) Played by: Paul G
A short, scaled, slimy, sibilant creature, Shthpluth is rather like a cross between a human and a newt. His tongue is long and sticky, and he always smells faintly of manure. Once, he was a proud paladin, Sir Plus, always courageous and honorable, if a little lacking in intelligence. But during the arisal of the Newt-God P'tang-P'tang, dark sorceries warped his form into what it is now. Since his transformation, Shthpluth (as he now refers to himself, being no longer able to pronounce "Sir Plus"*) has taken on a much humbler attitude, as he found himself no longer accepted in the proud circles he once moved in. He spends a lot of his time living in the swamps in Nocturne as a hermit, visiting Outpost occasionally when the call goes out for heroes.
[ * - And let's face it, that was never a very funny joke anyway. ]

On later rejoining a group of Outpost adventurers to help defend the Galatea mine from the Iaché, he nearly died from his wounds, and in his weakened state was dragged back to Outpost by Ezekiel, where he was handed over to the Council of Aldermen and executed as a traitor.

High Priest of The Lady
Commended Master Scout, Cleric of the Lorewarden's Guild, Sorceror of the Elementalist's Guild (Ranks 7/4/5)
Lorewarden of The Lady, Elementalist of Shadow, Aligned to the Natural Spirits
First adventure: 5th May 900 Played by: Xan
The orphaned son of an Outpost merchant, Aspen soon made a name for himself in the Scout's Guild, receiving a personal commendation from Guild Head Corban Naresse for the loyalty and cunning he displayed on his very first mission, and he has progressed steadily through the Ranks ever since.
He was almost killed in the fiasco surrounding the attempted destruction of the Breastplate of Lucia, his life saved by the swift intervention of the newly resurrected drow hero Dracus Rahl, whom he was later forced to slay in order to recover the second Silmaril. It was during this near-death experience that he received his first divine vision of The Lady, and on his return to Outpost he founded and began proselytising Her cult, even somehow managing to get it registered as an official religion with the Outpost Lorewarden's Guild! While still young, he is now one of the most powerful masters of the Natural Spirits in Outpost, as well as being competent in the manipulation of the Elements of Shadow and Air, immune to the attacks of all but the strongest Elementals, and able to consecrate and enchant items with the powers of the Spirits and of the Elements.
Among other things, Aspen is a keen collector of maps, and known to have an ancient enchanted sword of exceptional craftsmanship and an enchanted ring with the power to blind his enemies.
It is rumoured that he was directly involved in the events which precipitated Galen's treachery, and many whisper that his acceptance into the Elementalist's Guild soon after was more than mere coincidence. More pragmatic than moral, he almost certainly knows more than he's telling.
Woodsman (Rank 4)
First adventure: 27th October 900 Played by: Nicole
Tracker (Rank 3)
First adventure: 13th October 900 Played by: Ben
Currently remaining incognito after various actions of extremely dubious morality. His main alias is that of the botanist-adventurer "Felix Jaegar".
Tracker (Rank 3)
First adventure: 2nd June 900 Played by: Hanbury
A foreigner from a more civilised land to the East, it's not clear why Casimir came to Nocturne, but it almost certainly involves running away from some kind of trouble. Casimir has a reputation for not quite taking life as seriously as some would like, and seems to have a knack for making both enemies and friends. He is often the first to suggest various premature but profitable (if unethical) shortcuts to ending a quest, and claims his aim is simply to get rich - unless he can find a quicker way to have a good time. Despite this he has a particular dislike of treachery amongst companions. His expertise with poisons, and various small but lethal instruments, suggests a much less carefree past than he admits to. Opinion is divided as to whether he will ever gain preferment in the Guild, as it seems likely his mouth will get him into more danger that his skills can get him out of.
"Or.... we could skip the visit to the great sage of the mountain, sell the holy chalice of Val'Grak to a gold merchant, and go home rich?"
"It's simple. We kill the evil, raid the treasure, and head back to a tavern with mead and dancing girls."
"Oh, well they might say the safety of the city is at stake, but you'll notice they only bothered to hire five of us."
"Something's wrong. These people are friendly, but have no information. It's a trap!"

Elementalist of Air
First adventure: 5th May 900 Played by: Huw
Last adventure: 29th September 900
Perhaps the best way to describe Galen is the bad good guy, if that makes any sense. He did what he thought was right. Unfortunately, in his mind, what he thought was right, was right, and no one was going to tell him otherwise, even if quite possibly he was totally and utterly wrong. This belief was fundamental in him and led ultimately to his supposed treachery. He would be at pains to note that "He was right!" and that it was the devious acts of those following darker masters who twisted and turned against him, tainted his words, besmirched his actions and fooled the weak majority that they were right and he was wrong. Perhaps he was right? Perhaps not? He loathed the command that others were perceived to have over him. He saw himself as the chosen of the Elemental Lords themselves and couldn't understand how any mere mortal would be able to dictate more precisely what was "right" and what he, in their name, should do. Ultimately it led to his supposed treachery and a rapid exit to the North, supposedly back to his people. According to them he is dead, his path turned to darkness. However, those people of old, those Lords of the Mantis, Exarchs, Avatars and the like, are both cunning and tactful with their words. What many might perceive as death, may in fact be something utterly different. Perhaps there is more to the story than has yet been told... He would most likely tell you himself...
"I am Galen of the Mantis and I have lived a thousand lives. I am Siruis of the Wind, born again. I am the Lord of the raging storm. I walk the paths between the storms of light and dark and I am the eldest of the old. I have seen how the human race is treacherous and deceitful. With my own eyes I saw the Iaché attacked and slain. The people of old will not tolerate the outrageous and blasphemous actions of the people of Outpost. None of you remember! None of you have seen the death and the blood. You talk of balance but you whisper in the shadows. You speak of harmony and trust while you twist and stab in the darkness. There is no place for the disciples of Kaleth upon this plane. The bite and malice of the Shadow only taints you more and more. Look at Nocturne now! Growing like a tumour, it feeds on your blasphemy and your worship of darkness. When I spoke only truth, no one listened. The day I was branded a traitor was the day you chose to die. There is no refuge for Outpost. There is nowhere to go. Nothing can flee the hand of destiny, not even you Aspen. You snivelling wretched little creature; when will you learn that your Goddess will not protect you from the dæmons of darkness? You are traitors of everything that we strove to achieve. Watch the heavens... the lightning will strike deep when the Lords are angry. I am Galen of the Mantis. I am Siruis, Elemental Lord of Air. I am he who will bring my wrath and vengeance upon thee all! I am at Carahadros - come if you dare..."
As scribed by Imrahdir, Voice of the Mantis, Celestial Exarch to the Valaarii
Neophyte (Rank 2)
Liasha
First adventure: late 899 Played by: Serrændipiti
Last adventure: February 900
Feral and sarcastic. Rumour has it that he was raised within one of the primitive tribes of rogue Liasha within Nocturne, before coming to Outpost and being taken in by the Scout's Guild.
Died in Winthrupe Manor, while one of a party of adventurers fighting off a horde of dæmons that was streaming through a portal from the Nether Planes. He realised that the portal could only be closed by the death of the party's sorcerous apparent ally, Lady Winthrupe, and so yelled this information to the rest of the party as he turned to attack her, only to be struck down and slain by the Guardian Gatte for his unchivalrous behaviour towards a lady. Yet the energies of the nearby portal preserved his Spirit as a wraith, and he was able to wreak his vengeance upon his murderer in the minutes before his Spirit too was destroyed.

Elementalist of Earth
First adventure: 1st February 902 Played by: Xan
A mercenary and unsympathetic warrior-Elementalist, who had aspirations to one day join the Black Watch. He was abducted by Fæy witches in March 902, and claims to have been taken to the moon - since his return he has been unrelievedly morose and melancholy, and appears to have abandoned both his aspirations to join the Black Watch and his studies of magick, instead filling his life with the dedicated practice of the more martial arts.
Committed ritual suicide after claiming his soul was taken to the Nether Realms by a dæmon-sorceror named Hades, the large patch of green scales found on his corpse's chest never adequately explained.
Neophyte (Rank 2)
Elementalist of Shadow
First adventure: 9th November 901 Played by: Paul G
Last adventure: 24th May 902
One of the younger members of the Order of Shadow, Malmour Sudds was somewhat more idealistic than most of his brethren - the Element of Shadow tends to attract people of a, shall we say, darker mentality. Usually full of enthusiasm, and inquisitive to the point of being slightly incautious, Malmour spent almost a year signed on as editor of the Outpost Post, a job which frequently gave him an excuse to venture out into Nocturne to gather news. And the 'Powers That Be' in the Order of Shadow seemed to be quite happy with him kept safely out of their hair and busy with the Post - after all, it saved them from wasting somebody effective on such a mundane task.
Alas, in his eager search for a story, Malmour was eaten alive by a gigantic three-headed monkey while questing to recover a Soulgem. The monkey was set on fire and slain soon after by Felix Jaegar, but too late to save even enough of Malmour's semi-digested corpse for resurrection.

High Priest of Fortuna, Actor Extraordinaire
Master Lorewarden (Rank 7)
Lorewarden of Fortuna, Aligned to the Fellowship of the Heavenly Road
First adventure: late 899 Played by: Chris
"Through entertainment comes enlightenment."
I Humbly beg leave to claim a Skill in acting of the Highest Calibre, and my Devotion to this Art is surpassed only by my Devotion to the Lady Fortuna of the Heavenly Road. For She is the One who has Blessed my Training from a young age, and set me on the Road to great Knowledge and Etiquette.
So you might ask, why does one who bears such Grace and Eloquence sully his hands with the task of Adventure? The answer is like unto the Dragon Tarsus, who legend tells wears a horn born of Fire, a tail that Strikes with the wrath of the very Oceans and a mighty hide born of the Shadows. For like unto the Shadow doth this Act lend me tales of Great Might and Worldly knowledge. Indeed also as is the Water it is through this Art that I might bring forth the Message of my Lady, and yet moreso wherefore it is in the Fire that She doth Call me to do unto Her Bidding and to send forth the darkness from our world.

Acolyte, Neophyte of the Guardian's Guild (Ranks 3/2)
Lorewarden of The Sun, Aligned to the Fellowship of the Heavenly Road
First adventure: 9th November 901 Played by: Huw
Known as a Disciple of the Sun, Arioch follows the deity formed when the darkness struck out the light and Nocturne began, (at least this is the myth he tells). He believes in the light within, the ray of hope in the heart, the view that "Wherever you go there is always light". He is here to fight for what is right and just, to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to bring the light to those who cannot see. He is "Everdawn", the one who carries the light of the Sun, to make sure that even if there is no dawn in the sky there is always a dawn in the heart. The city of Outpost is to Arioch merely a place which needs the light. Ultimately his goal is to rid the world of the shadow of Nocturne - he has plans, and hopes - most of which require stupidly large amounts of "non-linear string"... but we shall see.
