Hello there! I'm Jarret, the new editor of the Outpost Post. Ever since Malmour Sudds got himself tragically eaten by a giant three-headed monkey in the course of journalistic duty, mere days before he was due to resign, the Post has been bereft of leadership, a fine ship without a captain, a prize racing stallion without a jockey. Until now! Yep, I've come to lend my guiding hand to Outpost's best (and only) news sheet. I hope that our acquaintance will prove to be a long and profitable one, and that the news will cheer up a little soon!
Hail Fortuna!
Jarret, editor
Krexel, a small village one day's journey into Nocturne famed for the quality and quantity of its mushroom harvest, is now a deserted ruin. The merchant Jacques Kruger, his retinue and the inhabitants of Krexel have tragically passed away. The Merchant's Guild and the families of the deceased mourn their passing.
A small group of adventurers was sent to investigate the village of Krexel four weeks ago, when Jacques went to collect the mushroom harvest for market and failed to return. According to their reports, the mushrooms had become possessed by a malicious spirit which had corrupted the children of the village into sacrificing their own parents in the mushroom caverns!
The bold adventurers entered the mushroom caves and defeated both the dark spirit and the undead corpses of its sacrifices, reanimated by the spirit as ghouls and zombies. They were also tragically forced to slay the village's children, who had been driven to a murderous frenzy by the spirit's powers and had begun attempting to sacrifice travellers and visitors to the village.
Alas, it was not until some time later that a salvage party discovered Jacques' body, where he had been held captive in one of the village's root cellars until the time came for him to be sacrificed. One of his guards was also found with him, both dead of dehydration.
Krexel's mushroom crops themselves have now been burnt following investigation by the Lorewarden's Guild, and the village abandoned.

The neophyte Earth Elementalist and apprentice Guardian Alain Dach was found dead in his quarters at the Elementalist's Guild earlier this week. All the evidence points to his having committed ritual suicide in accordance with the precepts of The Forge, although no suicide note was found, and the City Watch are not treating his death as suspicious.
Alain's comrades in the Guild report that he had been morose and depressed and "just not himself" ever since his disappearance in March, following which he returned with outlandish tales of having been abducted by færie witches, held prisoner on the moon and cursed by a færie lord.
The nine days preceding Alain's suicide are said to have been characterised by constant nightmares and other nocturnal disturbances emanating from his quarters, general reclusiveness and a newfound reluctance to use or even to discuss magick. Guild authorities are at a loss to explain the large patch of green scales covering most of Alain's chest, which is rumoured to be dæmonic in nature and which friends claim was not present only a fortnight past.

From our roving reporter Lassinda Rayon comes this fanciful tale that has lately been heard making the rounds of Outpost's taverns:
"...and the hall was ruined and there were two dæmons chained to the west and to the east wall. Yet the King saw only a hall of beauty, and two fountains, one of life and one of Mana. The mad king offered us drinks from the fountains, and would have had us stay there forever in squalour to regale him with tales of the outside world. But I was able to obtain our release, by promising to tell all of exactly how beautiful the King's hall was - for the King was bound in his hall, and could not leave to tell of its wonders. So, here I am, telling you the story of my trip to the Nether Realms, though even now I am not sure whether it was dream or truth. And that's why you should buy me a drink."
