Deity: none
Alignment: any
"Hmmmm, from the reports the scouts have brought in it sounds like a rare variety of wraith, one usually encountered only in the deserts of the far South. I think I have a scroll somewhere around here that may help defeat it... let me just check my notes..."
Necromancy is not a religion as such, nor do its practitioners usually worship any deities. Indeed, most necromancers hold some disdain for those Lorewardens who feel the need to worship a deity, although they generally try not to show it. Necromancers can be found following the paths of the Natural spirits, the Court of the Eternal Wheel and the Fellowship of the Heavenly Road, working alone or in small groups and societies. The one thing they all have in common is a fascination with spirits and the undead.
Necromancy often gets a bad press, due to those necromancers who misuse their powers to raise an army of the dead to further their own agenda. But many necromancers are more interested in learning how to oppose and destroy undead than in creating them, and others are scholarly types for whom the study of undead is an end in itself - these necromancers are often also renowned for their knowledge of history and legend. There are also those adventurers for whom a knowledge of spirits and the abilities to protect themselves from and wrest control of the undead they meet make useful additions to their repertoire.
There are no temples to necromancy, and most necromancers are fairly solitary types, but the more sociable amongst their number can often be found at the Skull & Bones Club down on Humerus Lane.
