The Nature Spirits

"Strangers, you are here because the spirits allow you to be here. Do not think that your swords can protect you within this realm, for the land itself watches over you. It will not tolerate you if you mistreat it. Be warned, for I am of the land, and I will defend it."

Followers of the nature spirits come in all forms. They are not a collective religious order as such, but are common among tribal people and can claim to quite some power. They generally originate from Nocturne or other wild lands. They share much in common with primitive tribal Elementalists, but their powers are based on belief and hence the spirits.

A follower of the nature spirits may be known as a druid, shaman, witch doctor, or one of many other titles. However, there are a few common core beliefs which almost all the nature spiritualists share:

• They believe that each part of the land, be it a river, a tree, an animal or even a human, has a spirit.
• They believe that when a living creature dies, its spirit is absorbed into the spirits around it. Hence nature spirits are intimately connected with life and death.
• They believe that the spirits of the land are as important as the spirits of the sapient and 'civilised' races.
