God: Shaigan
"So, you want to join The Benign Chaos, do you? Well, you'd better show your worth first, hadn't you! You see, we don't let just anyone in. Only the strong get in here. We don't waste our resources on the weak and the incompetent. If we did that, we wouldn't be able to defend ourselves from all the evil in the world, now would we? Oh, you still want to join do you? Well, come inside then. We'll see if you're up to it..."
The Church of the Benign Chaos teaches its children that through chaos the people of the world become stronger, for the weak would be destroyed.
These teachings were first communicated to a merchant by the name of Eusebio, a cruel man who specialised in the extraction of blackalt from Nocturne. He was a great visionary, who could see beyond his own physical lusts to the spirituality beyond. He performed many great and powerful rituals, and spread his religion throughout the land. However, eventually he was slain when the slaves who worked his mines revolted. They destroyed all evidence of the cult which they could find, but some of the manuscripts which described Eusebio's insight escaped intact.
The teachings of these manuscripts are summed up by the 'Decrees of Shaigan':
The Church itself has no structure. If any member of the Church can first prove his superiority to another member, through trial by combat or some such, then he or she can command them to do some act. This power is used less often than one might suspect, as groups of underlings can often overpower a lone superior opponent.
